Published in Amsterdam in 1703 by Ymanuel Athias, this bilingual (Hebrew-Spanish) work bears witness to the efforts made by the Sephardic diaspora to preserve and transmit Hebrew linguistic and religious knowledge after the Jews were reintegrated into England in the 17th century. Clear, methodical and accessible, this textbook was intended for teaching in Jewish schools such as the Talmud Torah, embodying the Jewish intellectual revival in Western Europe.
