ROMAN HIGH KARAT GOLD RING WITH CARNELIAN INTAGLIO DEPICTING A BUCOLIC SCENE. Ca. AD 50 - 200. A carnelian intaglio engraved with a bucolic scene showing a reclining goat beneath a tree with incised branches and foliage. The intaglio is framed by a stepped oval bezel with a double border, set in a wide gold hoop with flat shoulders. Reviewed by Sami Fortune, an ancient jewellery specialist. For similar see: I.
