ROMAN RED GARNET INTAGLIO DEPICTING HADRIAN IN HIGH KARAT GOLD RING. Ca. AD 130 . A garnet intaglio engraved with a left-facing laureate bust of the emperor Hadrian, with wavy hair, prominent facial features, and a draped garment. The stone is slightly convex and set within an oval stepped bezel. The 21.5 kt gold hoop flares gradually into the wide bezel, forming a smooth profile.
