In the Egyptian pantheon, gods could combine to form composite deities. The complex crown of this bronze statuette features attributes of the god Osiris, as well as the ibis-headed lunar god Thoth.
This association reinforces the link between moonlight, resurrection and natural cycles. Probably venerated in a funerary or mystical context, linked to nocturnal rebirth, a theme dear to the Osirian mysteries.
An Egyptian bronze figure of Osiris-Iah. Late Period, 664-332 B.C.
