TERRACOTTA RELIEF WITH THE DESCENT FROM THE CROSS - The Embden Collection Italy, probably Rome, ca. 1700. Terracotta modeled in high relief and polychrome painted. Dynamic composition with the body of Jesus carried by two male figures (probably Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus), between them St. John the Evangelist, on the far right the Virgin Mary in mourning and Mary Magdalene kneeling. Additional figures. Reinforced with slate plate on the verso. 58 × 40 cm. Heavily restored. Losses. Cracks. Mary's hand and one head replaced.
