Lot no. 2228
Theodor Jürgensen and Eike Heinrich Redel (1870 Thumby-Sieseby - 1920 Kiel and born 1951 Castrop-Rauxel)
"Tri tra trallala - Kasperl & Seppel". Original title (by E. H. Redel)
Satirical reworking of a black-and-white photograph by Jürgensen from 1910, showing Kaiser Wilhelm II, who is enthusiastic about the navy, with Admirals Alfred von Tirpitz and Henning von Holtzendorff on board the "Hohenzollern" during Kiel Week. Redel alienates the photograph of "Highness" with the admirals in a humorous, subtle and ironically parodistic way by having Wilhelm II and Henning von Holtzendorff hide two puppets behind their backs like children. Mixed media over original black and white photograph (silver gelatine print/paper). Signed and titled by Redel on the backing board; 22.5 cm x 17.5 cm. Frame.
Black and white photograph (silver gelatin print by Theodor Jürgensen, 1910) 1900) overpainted by Eike Heinrich Redel. Signed and titled by Redel on the backing board.
