In this triptych, three beautiful women stroll along the west bank of the Sumida River, north of the Hashiba ferry, an area known as Massaki. In this area is a temple dedicated to Inari, the fertility deity celebrated on the first day of the horse in February (hatsu-uma). It is possible that the three women were on their way to the temple for the festivities, given the title of the triptych, which mentions the second month.
