First edition, 150 copies numbered (No. 35). The text is printed on Japanese paper and the watercolours are printed on laid paper from the Arches paper mills. A superb work illustrated with 116 hors-texte colour plates based on the author's watercolours, most of them double-page spreads (56 in Volume I and 60 in Volume II). The observation sites are mainly in the Mont Blanc massif and the Col du Lautaret, but also in the Tarentaise, Bauges, Chartreuse, Vercors and Hautes-Alpes regions. Henriette of Belgium (Brussels 1870 - Sierre 1948) was the elder sister of Belgian King Albert I and the wife of Emmanuel d'Orléans, Duke of Vendôme. Between 1922 and 1945, she lived at the Château de Blonay in Lugrin, Haute-Savoie. She was a talented watercolourist. Perret, 4431-J
