VIKING BRONZE OPENWORK APPLIQUÉ IN THE FORM OF A HORSE AND RIDER
Ca. AD 900.
A bronze openwork appliqué depicting a stylised horse and mounted warrior. The figure sits upright with bent arms extended and a large, angular face shown in profile. The horse is rendered in a dynamic pose, its arched neck and extended limbs creating open spaces within the composition. The reverse is hollow.
