YOROUBA, Nigeria. Wood, dark brown patina, beads, cowries, indigo pigments. Two "Ibeji" statues linked to the cult of twins and representing a female figure standing on a pedestal, arms detached from the body, hands resting on hips, face facing south. The face has three slashes and the incised headdress is enhanced with indigo pigments. Height: 28.5 cm.
