Note: Following the Trois Glorieuses revolution of 27, 28 and 29 July 1830, which forced King Charles X to abdicate, the situation of the younger branch of the Capetian House of Bourbon changed when the head of the branch, Louis-Philippe d'Orléans (1773 - 1850), was appointed King of the French. The latter wished to establish a parliamentary monarchy in France based on the British model, but did not forget the importance of matrimonial alliances in establishing his influence in Europe, particularly in Belgium, Saxony and Württemberg.
